I’m writing today’s New Moon blog on the Aquarius New Moon, 2023 . . . and I think this new moon makes today the real start of the Age of Aquarius. New Ages don’t really have “starts”, they just kind of dawn as the song goes. 500 years before the New Ages, changes start to happen slowly, with the arrival of new world teachers who affect our consciousness with new values, concepts and ideas . . . think of Buddha, Jesus and Zoroaster before the Age of Pisces.
50 years before a New Age new thought concepts can appear in quite disruptive ways, with thought revolutions bringing cultural change . . . think of the 1960’s and 70’s as a result of the reactions of the Pluto in Leo generation’s experiences.

But today, on the Aquarius New Moon 2023, and on the weekend the Sun and Pluto are strong energetically, bringing “light” to the purification we need for wisdom power to emerge . . . Saturn is still in Aquarius, making sure its job is complete of teaching us how important hard work is, before moving into Pisces for our next learnings to happen followed by Pluto’s move into Aquarius end of March.
Pluto’s transits through a sign have energetic effects on us collectively, and historically because of its long orbit of 248 years. And historically, when Pluto has transited Aquarius in the past the energy has been “revolt of the feminine” . . . think of Ancient Queen Boudicca in the ’60’s at the turn of the christian era, 1900 years before our cultural changes in recent memory.
I think the New Age “starts” today, I think we’re moving into a new age of revolutionary thinking which is about bringing balance to our world culture through assertion of the sacred feminine . . . and the essential sacred feminine quality we’re going to need to thrive through what might be dynamic times, is compassion.
In my Yin Zen teaching, I call compassion one of the essential virtues which is like the “glue” that brings all the threads of life wisdom together making a strong fabric for the age: we’re moving into uplifting spiritual energy when valuing virtue and wisdom will make us a strong spiritual force for the future.
A very small insight:
This week I’m practising the short contemplation in “listening to the cries of the world” a way of opening up to compassion with a pure, kind heart: acknowledging that we can all hear the hurt in the hearts of all human beings. You sit quietly and let the cries in.
This practice comes from the zen concept that “the Regarder of the Cries of the World” is always present and listening (in the journey of Zen from India to Japan, by the time Zen reached Korea, via China, the mythical Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara had changed gender. By now the god had become a “she”, Kwan Yin the Goddess of Compassion).
We need to be still, quiet and receptive because Humanity’s heart is broken: we’re suffering from “unrequited humanity”. My own insight today is that Humanity has also given itself a big headache, but then that’s been building for centuries.
Spiritually we say our breath “touches and opens our heart”, then we can thrive with compassion—SuZen

Imbalance, when we’re out of sync with the “Vision of the Soul” . . . and not accessing our Spiritual Vision . . . cuts us off from our vital life-energy source: Soul Force.
All we are on a physical level as a human being is air, water and food. And physically, our body’s 10-13 trillion cells replace themselves every 100 days [just over 3 months].
